Community Kashrut is a company limited by guarantee. It has two members – the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and the Council of Orthodox Synagogues.
The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies has over 60 constituent community organisations and the Council of Orthodox Synagogues represents 17 of the major congregations in NSW – therefore Community Kashrut is owned by the community.
Yes. Our Directors are all volunteers, donating their time to the promotion and advancement of kashrut in NSW. The underlying goal of Community Kashrut is to make kashrut more widely available and accessible to all members of the NSW community. As such, any profits generated by our activities are to be directly returned to our operations in order to keep kashrut costs to a minimum and pass the savings on to the end consumer.
As a Limited Company, Community Kashrut is bound by the financial reporting obligations set out in the Corporations Act 2001.
Community Kashrut is funded by private donations and revenue from its licensees.
Community Kashrut is not funded by donations made to any Jewish charity or organisation and no Jewish charities or organisations’ funding have been used to fund Community Kashrut.

Community Kashrut firmly believes in making the widest variety of kosher products available to establishments and consumers where this is possible within the high kosher standards that our Va’ad HaRabbanim require.
In addition to all meat and poultry products supervised by the Kashrut Authority of NSW, meat hechshered by Kosher Australia is approved for use by our licensees.
We are currently working with other local and interstate producers of meat and poultry with a view to further expanding our list of approved products where this is possible.
